Famous Software offers a variety of business solutions tailored to the particular needs of its clients.
“We aren’t a technology company that builds products and hopes that people need them—it’s the other way around,” said Heather Hammack, president of the Fresno, CA-based company. “Our customers drive our development. So, throughout our history, we’ve been asked to do more and more, whether that’s wireless handheld device production, data visualizations, or apps that run iPhones or Android. It just really expanded the breadth of functionality that we are able to develop and distribute to customers.”
There is always a lot going on at Famous Software and the biggest buzz in early 2020 concerns Famous Apps.
“We currently have a few in the pipeline: Mobile Field Case Tag App, Sales App, Quality Control App and Truck Check In. These are all fully integrated with Famous ERP and provides users easy access to their Famous Data,” Hammack said. “We also have been working in direct partnership with Walmart and the IBM Food Trust Network to make sure that our ERP and Famous Integration Services messaging products satisfy the needs of Walmart’s Food Traceability initiative and communicate seamlessly with the blockchain network.”
The Famous Software team has developed a complete on-boarding process that demonstrates how companies can use the Famous Software solution to transmit the correct information to Walmart’s blockchain network and achieve compliance. The company is also starting to offer this solution for customers needing to comply with Albertson’s Blockchain requirements as well.
“We have gone from being an accounting and business management software company to a full-blown technology company that is completely integrated,” Hammack said. “We run on an Oracle Enterprise platform and invest millions of dollars in technology on behalf of our customers every year. We are doing a lot more with regards to production in the warehouse and data visibility.”
The company processes millions of EDI transactions a year with its Famous Integration Services. It also has a Business Intelligence Solution and Warehouse Management System, all of which is intertwined.
Hammack noted data analytics is the new driver for business growth as customers are wanting visibility with their Famous data to help make smarter, more strategic business decisions.
“With Famous Business Intelligence, you can easily evaluate business performance, identify and analyze trends, and empower your entire organization with decision-making tools so business issues can be identified and acted upon quickly,” she said. “It is a tool that helps you drive your business forward, not just track it. Famous BI allows you to easily explore, analyze, and share your data in colorful, interactive dashboards.”
While Famous Software has traditionally focused on the grower and shipper segments of the fresh produce market, over the last few years it has had a strategic focus on developing software that is focused on the wholesale and distribution markets.
“We are now as confident with this segmentation of the fresh produce industry as we have been with our growers and shippers,” Hammack said. “All of our product lines are continuing to grow and expand their capabilities to meet the needs and requirements of our customers. Our goal is to make our software easily accessible to our users.”
