The TCS New York City Marathon will again partner with New York Apple Association as this year’s official sponsor to provide New York state-grown apples at the finish line, at several related events, and to race volunteers. As an official sponsor, NYAA will provide over 58,000 locally grown apples for the TCS New York City Marathon and an additional 21,500 locally grown apples for the race week events.
“This is the 22nd year NYAA is sponsoring the TCS New York City Marathon, and we look forward to this event every year,” said NYAA President Cynthia Haskins. “Our state is one of the largest growers of apples in the country and with the TCS New York City Marathon in our backyard, it is a great partnership.”Jayne Zinke, 76, will run her 24 marathon and will run with her three sons who own an apple orchard in New York state.

New York state apples are more than just a sentimental choice to be the official apple of the TCS New York City Marathon; they are a logical choice as well. Apples provide carbohydrates combined with fiber for energy, and fluid for hydration — both of which are essential for endurance exercise such as a marathon.
