U.S. Customs & Border Protection officers seized 62 pounds of cocaine Friday at the Rafael Hernandez International Airport, declared as roses. The estimated value of the seized contraband is $702,500.  ros

“Criminal organizations exploit diverse means through the supply chain to conceal and enter contraband into the island,” said Felix Cruz-Diaz, Mayaguez port director. “Our officers remain vigilant to detect and remove narcotics from the streets.”

On July 5, during the inspection of inbound cargo arriving from Colombia, a CBP K9 alerted to a pallet of boxes manifested as “flowers red roses.”

Inside two boxes, CBP Officers found 26 bricks containing a white powdery substance that tested positive to the properties of cocaine.

CBP’s mission is to safeguard America’s borders thereby protecting the public from dangerous people and materials while enhancing the Nation’s global economic competitiveness by enabling legitimate trade and travel.
