This year's Future Food-Tech Summit will kick off on March 21 in San Francisco when retailers, manufacturers and investors will gather for two days of seminars, discussion and networking. With a focus on innovation, the summit will host speakers and panelists from across the food industry with topics ranging from food systems to nutrition.John Purcell
John Purcell, senior vice president, distinguished fellow, and vegetable seed R&D lead with Bayer Crop Science, will be part of a panel of colleagues discussing next-generation food products. For over three decades, Purcell has been helping farmers grow food more sustainably and has contributed to advancements in a number of crops, including vegetables. Currently he works with research teams to find ways to cultivate produce that is more appealing, nutritious and can be grown using fewer resources.

The panel will discuss topics such as flavor manipulation, shelf-life and bio-technology in addition to bringing genetically engineered foods to market.
“I’ll be providing insight on the development and commercialization of our nonbrowning Arctic apples, as well as the challenges and successes we’ve encountered along the way,” said Armen. “I’m very interested in discussing ideas on how we can all work together to promote the benefits of biotechnology. It promises to be an interesting discussion!"
The two-day event is being held at the San Francisco Hilton Union Square and promises an open dialogue with global food brands, access to the most exciting food-tech start-ups, and critical intelligence on food-tech trends.
