Sunkist Delite mandarins are back and shipping to retailers around the globe. The California-grown Sunkist Delite mandarins debuted last year, tripling in sales its first season, making it one of the leading brands in its category.
“Consumer demand for mandarins is skyrocketing, now representing more than 45 percent of the citrus category,” said Christina Ward, director of communications. “It’s the perfect pocket-sized fruit that’s easy to peel, which makes it a ‘must-have’ in the produce department.”
The Delite name is the original California mandarin brand created by the first family to grow and market W. Murcott mandarins in California. “As Sunkist Growers celebrates its 125 years as a California citrus cooperative, it continues to revel in the multi-generations of growers that pass down traditions and skills from generation to generation,” added Ward.
In addition, Sunkist launched its “Fresh from the Grove” Delite Mandarin secondary display bin in select markets last year. Due to its popularity and high demand in a test account last season, the new unit is making its nationwide debut this season.
“The ‘Fresh from the Grove’ display bin has a farmers market feel,” said Julie DeWolf, director of retail marketing. “It’s the perfect solution for retailers who want to increase selling space within a small footprint, as it can hold up to three cartons of two or three pound bags. We also have the ability to customize promotions and point of sale materials to fit our customers’ needs.”
The Sunkist Delite displays reveal the newest slogan “Instant Gratification. Just peel, eat and repeat.” The units are available nationwide this season.
