Next year, Summer Citrus from South Africa will celebrate 20 years of success for providing fresh, full-flavored citrus to the U.S. market.
Founded in 1999 and rebranded in 2016, Summer Citrus from South Africa has assembled an impressive team of growers, importers, local and global officials, logistics and marketing teams to ensure a sophisticated business model to meet the demand of U.S. consumers.
“We believe in the people behind our business and know that it takes a very talented and committed team to ensure that we grow and deliver the best-quality produce.” said Suhanra Conradie, chief executive officer of Summer Citrus from South Africa.
Positioned with the consumer in mind, SCSA anticipates the U.S. consumers’ needs with a demand-driven business model that assures a sustainable amount of quality fruit. Their mission supports the U.S. market during off-harvest months in order to meet the demand of consumers by having continual fruit available domestically.
While the Summer Citrus from South Africa season spans from June to October, the organization actively engages year-round with the U.S. market through continued conversation and relationship building with retailers, trade contacts, import companies, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Despite the previous season’s severe drought, Conradie is optimistic about the opportunities for the 2019 crop.
“We have been blessed with sufficient rain and look forward to the 2019 harvest for our 20th year anniversary,” she said.
Alongside loyal importers and service providers, SCSA will be hosting the 2019 planning meeting in early April to focus on the past 20 years of success and plan for the upcoming harvest season. Conradie encourages retailers to attend.
“As we anticipate our 2019 summer season, we wish successful winter crops for our friends in the U.S.,” Conradie added.
