Officers with U.S. Customs & Border Protection Office of Field Operations at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility foiled a smuggling attempt of nearly $2 million of cocaine in a shipment of fresh limes.

Port Director Sylvia Briones credited teamwork and perseverance for the "outstanding interception of narcotics."

On Aug. 17, CBP officers inspected a commercial shipment of fresh limes and with the assistance of a canine team, were able to detect packages of alleged cocaine hidden within the trailer. Officers removed and seized 80 packages of cocaine that weighed 202 pounds and had a street value of $1.86 million.

CBP OFO seized the conveyance along with all the narcotics and Homeland Security Investigations continues with this investigation.
