The Southeast Produce Council is now accepting nominations for its third annual Next Generation Award. This award, which is co-sponsored by The Produce News, will honor a young person who represents the "next generation" of produce leaders for the fresh produce industry in the Southeast.
Those nominated for this esteemed award must meet the following criteria: 39 years or younger (on the date of application), employed in the produce industry for at least four years, an SEPC member in "good standing," and made a significant contribution to the industry (company). To be in "good standing," a member must actively participate in the SEPC by his or her attendance, contributions or both, and must be included in the SEPC membership roll.
Once all nominations have been received, a committee will review all submissions and select the most qualified recipient, who will then be notified and honored during the General Session and Keynote Luncheon at Southern Innovations 2019, which will take place Sept. 12-14 in Nashville, TN.
"The only way for our industry to flourish in the future is to identify who the highly motivated and engaged individuals are today," said David Sherrod, SEPC president and chief executive officer. "The Southeast Produce Council has committed to recognize the efforts of these young minds and highlight their achievements to preserve, protect and advance our industry for years to come."
If you have someone in mind whom you'd like to nominate for the Next Generation Award, please submit your nominations by July 19 to https://seproducecouncil.com/next-generation-award/.
(Note: employees of the Southeast Produce Council, any contract employees of the SEPC and members of the immediate family of any such persons are not eligible to be nominated or win the award. The term "immediate family" includes spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents and grandchildren, whether as "in-laws" or by current or past marriage(s), adoption, cohabitation or other family extension, and other persons residing at the same household, whether or not related.)
