Raley’s officially broke ground on its newest state-of-the-art grocery store in Land Park, CA. In partnership with Preserve West Capital, the groundbreaking marks the start of a projected nine-month construction schedule on The Park development. Raley’s 55,000-square-foot store will offer customers a modern shopping experience while expanding on the company’s vision of health and wellness.
The store will feature specialized culinary offerings, including an enhanced fresh service counter with acai bowls, sushi, a meat carving station, and a gourmet salad and hot food case. The store will include a tasting room that will offer occasional food tastings, along with beer and wine sampling.
“Raley’s is proud to expand our long-standing relationship with the Land Park community with a modern shopping experience,” said Kevin Konkel, Raley’s chief operations officer. “As our flagship location, this store will offer customers something new, while still paying tribute to our strong past in the community.”
Raley’s current location has served the neighborhood for more than 60 years. The new center includes the iconic Raley’s monument sign in its historic form. The sign was installed in 1958 and resembles many Sacramento neon signs, including Tower Records and Gunther’s Ice Cream. In addition, the store will pay homage to Sacramento’s Capitol Nursery, which previously occupied the space since 1931. Botanical elements will be incorporated throughout the store and the nursery’s iconic neon sign will hang prominently on the interior of the store.
Additional project designs include a mezzanine, referred to as “Loft at the Park,” which will offer comfortable seating overlooking the entire store and window seating as well. The outdoor seating area is planned to include cozy and contemporary fire pits. An understated color pallet and the use of raw materials will allow food to shine as the true hero of this project.
The Park Development will be completed in early 2020.
