Publix Super Markets has been recognized by the Great Place to Work Institute and Fortune as one of the 2019 Best Workplaces for Diversity, ranking No. 23 out of 100 companies. Wegmans Food Markets Inc., the only other supermarket retailer on the list, came in at No. 26. Both companies made the list in 2018, placing third and fourth respectively.

This list focuses on the experiences of women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, those with disabilities and those who belong to the Baby Boomer or older generations.

Great Place to Work analyzed survey feedback representing more than 4.8 million employees across the U.S. from these groups. Those who took the survey were asked about camaraderie within their workplace environment, company values, company trust and leadership effectiveness.
