The New York Apple Association is hosting the New York Big Apple Salad Contest starting Jan. 1. This popular consumer contest entices people to keep their healthy eating resolutions in the new year without compromising flavor.
The challenge is simple and tasty: Eat at least one salad a day infused with the robust flavor of a New York apple variety — then, share images and recipe details with NYAA to win one of three $500 gift cards.
Point-of-sale signage for retailers is available.
The contest launches on Facebook and runs through Feb. 28. NYAA has created a motivational video and great salad recipe ideas which will be shared online to inspire people to get in on the tasty fun.
Among the recipes NYAA will share online are some tried and true favorites that really motivate the taste buds — recipes like “New York Apple Slaw with Sweet and Sour Cider Dressing” and “New York Grilled Apple Salad,” which features a tangy cider mustard vinaigrette dressing.
“Whatever your health goal — eating cleaner, feeling better, losing weight — salads are a deliciously easy way to eat better without sacrificing flavor or satisfaction,” said NYAA President Cynthia Haskins. “Apples add crunch, texture and flavor — as well as nutrients and fiber-related fullness — to any salad. Plus, apple cider and cider vinegar make great salad dressings.”
Contest details and updates will be posted on NYAA’s website.
