Fully integrated grower and shipper GreenFruit Avocados will be introducing its innovative new two-count box and outer carton at booth No. 1304 at the PMA Foodservice Conference & Expo in Monterey, CA, this week, July 26-27.
The 24-count, one-layer outer box is shipped and received containing 12 smaller boxes inside, each containing two size-48 avocados. Foodservice partners can reduce waste and fulfill orders by smaller entities such as restaurants, by supplying in twos as opposed to bulk quantities.
"These boxes represent a more sustainable solution compared to plastic bags since they’re 100 percent recyclable and provide better protection in transit and storage — which reduces shrink," said Dan Acevedo, GreenFruit’s business development director. "We’ve tested these boxes for the past year with a customer in New York and have seen excellent results with product quality, distribution versatility and the efficiency of the design. We’re excited to offer them now to all of our customers — foodservice and retail, branded or privately labeled."
The boxes provide ample ventilation and protection during shipping, as well as a handy stage-of-ripeness guide, which provides a useful tool in the kitchen. The SKU on each two-count box promotes traceability within the foodservice industry as product changes hands, because each box is related to its master container.
Greenfruit is known for its state-of-the-art, high-pressure ripening process, and these 100 percent recyclable boxes are the next innovation bringing added value to both foodservice distributors and retailers.
