cgmedCenter for Growing Talent launched the Virtual Wellness Walk/Run Challenge, inviting produce and floral industry members to participate in a five-week virtual wellness experience to promote health while supporting CGT education programs.

Center for Growing Talent is known for its education and networking programming, providing opportunities to develop current industry talent and attract new talent to join the produce and floral communities.  While the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we come together, CGT has not slowed down the efforts to bring people together.  In addition to offering virtual networking opportunities for women in the industry as an extension of the Women’s Fresh Perspectives portfolio, they have also transitioned to virtually connect with students as a part of their Career Pathways program.  The CGT Virtual Wellness Walk/Run month-long event fits in with other digital events while connecting participants around health, exercise, and friendly competition all to support Center for Growing Talent’s education programs.

“We are proud to announce the launch of our new Virtual Wellness Walk/Run Challenge, a multi-week event to support the health and wellness of industry members and raise funds to engage a new generation of talent on behalf of the industry,” said Center for Growing Talent Executive Director Doug Bohr. “We continue to meet our members and engage talent wherever they are.  In the past several months, CGT has reached almost four times the number of students than in each of the past three years. The Virtual Wellness Walk/Run Challenge is yet another way to connect with colleagues across the globe, promote team building despite social distancing, and have fun while raising funds for the future of our industry.”

Anyone is welcome to join the challenge and there are options available for individuals and teams.  Participants can pick their distance from one mile, a 5K, or a commitment to walk or run 30 miles in 30 days for the cumulative challenge.  Once registered, participants will receive information about how to track miles and how to join the social media groups to qualify for additional prizes.   While individual participants are welcome, anyone can create or join a team to qualify for the team prizes.  Teams will be recognized for the largest team, most spirited, and the team with the highest donations.

“Central among the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic is the loss of regular, day to day contact with colleagues and friends, the contact that builds morale and keeps a company’s corporate culture alive.  The Center for Growing Talent’s Virtual Wellness Walk/Run Challenge offers an opportunity for connection and team-building,” said Mark Greenberg, Capespan president and CEO.  “It will also raise money for the CGT to allow it to achieve its mission.  So, for me, it’s all about team building, The Virtual Wellness Walk/Run Challenge and the Center for Growing Talent.”

Participants should follow all local social distancing guidelines when participating in the Virtual Wellness Walk/Run Challenge and are encouraged to include families, pets, and members of their organizations. Participants can also share their involvement with others who can donate if they choose not to walk or run.

“The Virtual Wellness Walk/Run Challenge is designed to encourage a sense of wellness through exercise as well as camaraderie for our families and four legged friends, encourage team building with our colleagues and team members,” said Jamie Kitz, director of business development at CGT.  “We encourage everyone to Wellness Walk/Run with us in support of the Center for Growing Talent’s Mission: bringing value to companies by helping to attract and develop talent now and for the future.  What a great way to feel good by doing good.”
