Gold Bell, part of the Arrowfarms company, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. A family business, Gold Bell’s success was built on quality produce, excellence in customer service, and innovation within the industry.

Gold-Bell-logo “We started Gold Bell 40 years ago with the idea to provide our customers with seasonal specialty items year-round,” said Joanne Cipriano Dolan, founder of Gold Bell. “We have grown throughout the East coast and beyond. We are proud to employ a team of more than 50 people, and are dedicated to providing top quality product to every customer, every day. We want to thank our loyal customers and our dedicated staff for 40 remarkable years.”

To commemorate the occasion, Gold Bell will donate 10 percent of Friday, Nov. 8, gross sales to the Boston nonprofit Fair Foods. Fair Foods is a food rescue nonprofit, receiving surplus produce from industrial suppliers who can no longer use it. On an average day, the organization receives and ships over 10,000 pounds of fresh food. “We have partnered with Fair Foods for years, and donating on our 40th anniversary is a wonderful way to include our retail customers in giving back to the community that our company calls home,” says Dolan.

Nancy Jamison of Fair Foods said that her organization is grateful for the quality produce that Gold Bell has so consistently donated. “For 30 years, Gold Bell has provided fresh, healthy food to those in need throughout New England by supporting Fair Foods. So far in 2019, we have distributed 145,200 pounds of food — that is a pallet of food stacked to the top of the Prudential Center yearly,” said Jamison. “We are so appreciative, as are the thousands of low-income people we serve by delivering this produce to health centers, veterans centers, Boston Housing senior centers, shelters and churches daily.”

As one Arrowfarms company celebrates 40 years in business, the organization as a whole looks to the future. The founders of Arrowfarms and its staff believe that sustainability is one of the most important issues facing the produce industry. Many sustainability initiatives are already in place including a zero-waste facility, efficiency measures, and eco-conscious packaging. Arrowfarms has also invested in the development of Morning Kiss Organic, the organic brand of Gold Bell, DiSilva Fruit and Arrowfarms.

“We have made a true commitment to sustainability company-wide,” said Michael Guptill of Gold Bell. “We’re proud to have all the Arrowfarms companies on board with these initiatives, and particularly excited to grow our Morning Kiss Organic brand that partners with local, family-owned farms to bring organic produce to our retail partners and tables throughout the East Coast and beyond.”
